We mourn the loss of Prof. Christian Freksa, Ph.D.
With the tragic accidental death of Prof. Christian Freksa, Ph.D., the Society for Cognitive Science has lost one of its founding members. This fills us with deep sorrow and dismay, and we will remember our colleague as a key pioneer of cognitive science in Germany and far beyond. Christian Freksa was an internationally renowned and respected researcher in the field of artificial intelligence, and through his research in spatial cognition, he laid an important foundation for cognitive science in Germany.
He had a unique ability to look beyond the boundaries of disciplinary expertise, thereby bringing the interdisciplinary nature of cognitive science to life. With his open and approachable manner, he inspired students and colleagues alike and helped open up entirely new perspectives. Many members of the GK owe him a great deal. We deeply mourn his passing and would like to express our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to all his loved ones.
