Contributions should be submitted in German and should be accessible to readers without an academic background.

The term “artificial intelligence” (AI) encompasses a wide range of technological innovations and their impact on our society. A growing number of social robotics products equipped with artificial intelligence are now being used in industry, transportation, healthcare, the military, education, and children’s toys. Although we interact with such products on a daily basis, it remains unclear to this day what exactly is meant by “artificial intelligence,” nor do we have a clear definition of the concept of natural intelligence. The aim of this anthology is to bring together various perspectives on the conceptual definition of “intelligence,” as well as an assessment of the opportunities and limitations of artificial intelligence, and, not least, an evaluation of risks and potential societal changes.

To this end, we propose potential questions in two thematic areas, though the selection of topics need not necessarily be limited to these:

(1) DEFINITION / DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HUMANS AND MACHINES / LIMITS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

How can different aspects of intelligence be distinguished?
Which aspects of intelligence cannot be realized in artificial intelligence?
How can machines with artificial intelligence be distinguished from both humans and animals with natural intelligence, as well as from non-intelligent machines (artifacts)?
What are the sufficient and necessary conditions for attributing artificial intelligence?nz?

(2) CONSEQUENCES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Can our understanding of sociality extend beyond biology?
Do we need social norms for interacting with artificial systems?
Will the scope for discretion change radically when artificial systems become decision-makers?
How might humans change through the integration of artificial intelligence (transhumanism and posthumanism)?
