Call for symposium proposals
at the 7. Tübingen Perception Conference (TWK)
30. January 2004 - 01. February 2004

We invite you to submit proposals for symposia at the Tübingen
Perception Conference, TWK, in 2004. The TWK is an interdisciplinary
perception conference bringing together scientists from psychology, the
neurosciences and computer science working on aspects and problems of
perception (http://www.twk.tuebingen.mpg.de). Initially, the TWK was
conceived of as a German vision conference with talks and poster
presentations in German but over the last couple of years the
conference has broadened its thematic scope and the language has
shifted to English. We are particularly keen to encourage scientists
from outside Germany to attend the TWK as well as all non-German
scientists working within Germany.

We should like to emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of the TWK as
a Perception rather than (yet another) conference on vision. Obviously
vision remains a core interest of the TWK but we strongly encourage
scientists from other perceptual domains to propose symposia.

1. Each symposium should last about 3 hours, including a short coffee
break, and should consist of 4 to 6 lectures. The conference language
is English, thus all symposia should be held in English.

2. We suggest that symposia are defined thematically and that speakers
provide complementary and/or alternative angles on the subject. There
are no parallel sessions at the TWK so the symposium topic should not
be too specialist in nature.

3. When proposing a symposium please indicate a list of potential
speakers and the topics they would cover. From past experience we
expect to receive more than 3 proposals so we will not be able to
accept all of them. Please keep this in mind if you are considering
contacting potential speakers at this early stage.

4. Important: the TWK covers the hotel and conference registration
expenses for the symposia organizers as well as for all the invited
speakers, but we are unable to reimburse travel expenses. Please keep
this in mind when contacting potential speakers from abroad.

5. Please send you symposium propsal as email in Ascii-format (text
only) to mailto:twk@kyb.tuebingen.mpg.de no later than 01.08.2003.


We will inform everyone who has proposed a symposium about our decision
by the 15.08.2003.
